Hospital Hotel La Catolica is located in the city of San Jose. In 1952, the need arose to create a private medical center that would provide an answer for the saturated Costa Rican public health care system.
Nuns from the Franciscan Sisters Congregation of Immaculate Conception and a group of doctors decided to build such a center, which opened its doors on March 16, 1963, putting themselves at the service of the ill and the general public. Today, after ambitious administrative and infrastructure restructuring, the facilities are one of a kind concept for medical service in Costa Rica.
Hospital Hotel La Catolica also offers an on-site 33 room colonial style inn, Hotel La Posada El Convento, which provides all modern amenities, including room service and tours, for you and a guest.
Passport for Health members interested in traveling to Costa Rica for a medical procedure should contact our concierge service staff. While all of the hospitals in our network are full-service facilities, some hospitals elect to specialize in certain procedures. Our staff will help you make an informed decision about which destination, hospital and doctor best suits your medical need, timeline and budget.
